SAFETY SOLUTIONS FOR SURGICAL SCALPEL BLADES

Endorsements

“Using the Safety scalpel will definitely reduce the incidence of injuries when handling the blade between scrub sisters and the surgeon and the blade can then easily be disposed of while still protected in the handle. Feedback from the scrub sisters was also very positive as they are at great risk when taking back the blade from the surgeon and removing it from a non-disposable handle. If the handle is available in theatre, I will definitely use it in preference to the standard non-disposable metal handles.”

“The BMS is a comfortable, well-balanced, easy to hold blade holder with the obvious advantage of being able to retract into a safety covering so that blade stick injuries are limited. It can be passed between scrub sister and the surgeon enclosed and then the blade advanced as necessary. It is a useful adjunct to theatre safety.”
